Hirschmann Solutions presents asset tracking modules at Intermodal Europe 2015

Hirschmann Solutions, provider of antenna and transceiver systems, is presenting its portfolio of highly-robust, autonomous asset tracking solutions for intermodal freight transport at this year's Intermodal Europe at the Hamberg Messe conference center - the trade fair for the container and intermodal industry - in Hamburg, Germany.

On Nov. 17-19, 2015, conference attendees can visit stand E46 in Hall A1 to discover how Hirschmann Solutions' asset tracking modules contribute to reducing logistics costs and ensure end-to-end monitoring of containers, trucks and trailers during transportation - all with a service life of more than ten years in every region of the world.

"Insufficient security measures during freight transportation can lead to the collapse of entire value creation chains in a very short space of time," said Frank Homann, president of Hirschmann USA. "Therefore, in the age of the IoT, asset tracking solutions must not only perfectly match the individual geographic and climatic requirements of the transport route, they must also be completely protected against security risks and data theft."

Flexible Module Series

Hirschmann Solutions offers three variants of asset tracking modules as a platform solution - a container tracking module (HS-2000 series), a trailer tracking module (HS-2100 series), and a chassis tracking module (HS-2200 series). This allows logistics companies, network providers and solutions providers to choose from an extensive asset tracking portfolio of products used for monitoring both container freight, for example to maintain cold chains, and entire transport routes.

The modules supply various sensor-controlled data, such as movements, temperature, vibrations and location. They are completely autonomous and maintenance-free, thanks to a powerful solar/dual battery concept that ensures a service life of more than ten years.

The base module of the HS-2X00 series is fitted with a SIM chip, making it possible to quickly switch between network providers. An upgrade to 4G LTE networks will be available in the future. It also boasts Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) wireless technology, to which devices within a radius of approximately 30 meters can connect. Firmware and software updates can easily be performed by the control center via over-the-air programming (OTA). Special mounts, satellite communication modules, sensors and additional accessories mean that the modules can also be easily adapted to specific requirements.
