Briggs and FLTA partner for fork lift safety

Briggs Equipment UK Ltd. will sponsor the Fork Lift Truck Association's National Fork Truck Safety Conference, which will take place at Warwick University on Wednesday 25th September 2013.

The FLTA's 11th annual conference will encourage managers and supervisors to take a comprehensive look at fork lift truck safety to improve the UK's safety record, with the theme: Top to Bottom Safety: from shelf-stacker to CEO, every contribution counts.

The decision to sponsor the Safety Conference was a natural choice for Briggs, who feature not once, but twice in this year's FLTA Pick of the Year (for Safe Site and Safety).  In addition, the company is a familiar face at the Conference, as both Delegate and Presenter.

Speaking on behalf of Briggs Equipment, Operations Director Gavin Wickham said: "Safety has always been a priority for Briggs Equipment and we are delighted, therefore, to be associated with the UK's only national conference that focuses exclusively on fork lift trucks and their safe operation in the workplace.

"We aim to play a very active role in the Conference and in helping promote it to the widest possible audience."

As part of the Conference, Gavin will deliver a best practice seminar concerning the safety of engineers entitled "Stop and Think". Other representatives from Briggs Equipment will be on-hand throughout the day-long event to offer delegates with expert advice on fork truck safety.

Gavin continued: "At this year's Safety Conference, we'll look at ways which employers can engage their workforces in creating and maintaining a safe working environment.

"Those working with and alongside fork lift trucks have the most to contribute to this discussion... and the most to gain. Their hands-on understanding of operations allows them to recommend improvements which will enhance safety in ways that are both time and cost efficient.

"But safety shouldn't stop on the shop floor, which is why we're encouraging every one of the tens of thousands of businesses in the UK operating fork lift trucks to aim for a total safety culture at their sites by maximising involvement from employees at every level: from the shelf-stacker right through to the CEO."

The Conference will be held in the Ramphal Building at Warwick University on Wednesday 25th September 2013. The Conference will start promptly at 9.30 am and close by 4.00 pm.

Tickets for the event are priced at £88.00 (plus VAT) for Members of the FLTA or its Safe User Group and £120.00 (plus VAT) for non-Members.  The price includes refreshments, lunch and documentation.
