ABE Ledbury pulls out the stops to help worthy causes

Community spirit consistently demonstrated by colleagues at Ledbury-based transport firm ABE is having far-reaching effects on worthy causes.
The 75-strong team works tirelessly to contribute to fundraising quests which help swell the coffers for a variety of charities and local causes both in the UK and in Africa.
St Michael’s Hospice in Ledbury is among those to benefit. This year will be the third consecutive year that ABE has sponsored the hospice’s Christmas tree recycling scheme which invites local residents to donate to hospice funds in exchange for their real Christmas trees to be collected and recycled.
This year the scheme saw ABE collect 70 Christmas trees, in the local area, which helped generate over £1,000 extra for the hospice. The hospice team collected from the rest of Herefordshire.
ABE has provided financial support to Ledbury Rugby Club, Malvern Rugby Club and Ledbury Town Football Club with ABE’s logo emblazoned on hoardings.
The Ledbury Town carnival was a great success with ABE providing three floats for local groups as well as a stage in the centre.
ABE sponsored the Dymock Half Marathon & Music Festival for the fifth year also including a trailer for a stage.
Furthermore, for more than 15 years ABE has been a passionate supporter of Megan Baker House, a local charity which supports children and adults in Herefordshire and beyond who live with motor disorders such as cerebral palsy.
During this time the company has donated time, effort and funds to help the charity, organising or participating in fundraising activities and collections, helping to promote the cause and offering practical help such as transportation. The company put one of its trailers in their livery promoting the charity, helping to raise its profile throughout the region.
And finally, Managing Director Clive Brooks is set to swap four wheels for two to once again supporting Transaid by taking part in a cycling expedition in Kenya which will see him covering a staggering 474 miles over six days.
In 2022 Managing Director Clive was among a group of intrepid cyclists who helped raise more than £230,000 for people in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Funds raised were put towards the support of extensive professional driver and maintenance training programmes with the aim of improving transport management systems and rural access, as well as improving road safety and access to healthcare for drivers and other representatives in the industry.
Clive said: “ABE has long been part of the fabric of Ledbury and the surrounding area. We have a lot of local people on our team and the business has always been well supported by our local community.
“There are some great community groups in the area which touch the lives of a lot of people for a variety of reasons. Our colleagues take great pride in playing their part in helping our community thrive and it is an honour for ABE as a business to be able to give something back.”
