DHL scoops Supply Chain Capability award, following three-year contract extension with Keiper

DHL Supply Chain has been recognised with a Supply Chain Capability award by Keiper, global manufacturer of automotive metal seat structures.

Now in its fifth year, the 2011 Keiper Supplier Awards recognised DHL's efforts in managing additional activities within the manufacturer's logistics operations. The initial contract between the two organisations commenced in 2007 and was extended for a further three years in September 2010. Over this time the contract has evolved from solely managing the offsite warehousing requirements to undertaking receipt, checking and linefeed management of metal seat structures at the manufacturer's Birmingham factory.

DHL was cited for its smooth and controlled implementation of the contract extension activities and its proactive approach to continuous improvement while delivering cost saving initiatives.

Mick Turner, MD of Keiper UK commented: "From the off, DHL has treated our operation with the utmost professionalism - its proven experience in reducing costs, continuous improvement and the flexible solutions it has developed no doubt helped to secure its position as our supplier of the year. We look forward to developing this relationship in the future."

Les Wilks, VP MLS at DHL Supply Chain added: "We're delighted to have been recognised by Keiper with this exciting award. This partnership is key to the strategic direction of DHL's manufacturing logistics services team, as while we have historically provided these services to vehicle manufacturers, it's the first time DHL has transferred these services and applied in-plant activity with a supplier. The implementation of the operation has been a great success and demonstrates our ability to offer flexible, scalable solutions for manufacturers and their suppliers."
