ALD Logistics moves over to Volvo

Rotherhithe-based ALD Logistics, has just completed a vehicle replacement programme that has seen the company move its once Mercedes LGV fleet to Volvo.

The deal is for ten Volvo FLH 18 tonners and a pair of Volvo FE 26 tonne 6x2 chassis, fitted with Collier curtainside bodies and Anteo tail lifts, make up the order that were introduced to ALD Logistics fleet in November.

ALD Logistics Managing Director Dan Ausling said: "These are our first Volvo trucks. Service is king in this business and having been very impressed with the support levels from our Volvo dealer, MC Truck and Bus at Maidstone, since purchasing a large fleet of light Isuzu trucks from them, it's given me the confidence to move to Volvo for our larger trucks. I know it's a good product and I get the service I need."

ALD's 72-strong fleet spans the entire weight range from 3.5 to 44 tonnes and their drivers have taken to the new Volvos particularly well.

Dan Ausling added, "The response from our drivers has been very positive and they especially like the Volvo I-Sync automated gearbox. We are taking advantage of the driver training package from Volvo at Maidstone, to ensure that the drivers receive a comprehensive handover and can operate the vehicles as efficiently as possible."

The vehicles will be used predominantly to distribute the Daily Mail, Metro and regional papers around London and the Home Counties.

The new Volvos are on a five-year contract hire deal with Volvo Dealer MC Truck & Bus Maidstone and Thurrock which includes a full repair and maintenance package.
