Schmitz Cargobull at the CV Show 2008

Schmitz Cargobull (UK) Ltd will use the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show (NEC, Birmingham, 15-17 April 2008) to highlight various models from its comprehensive range of curtainsided and refrigerated trailers.

Among the products that visitors to the companys stand will be able to see and assess will be Schmitz Cargobulls UK domestic freepost curtainsider, which has been specially configured to meet the precise demands of the UK market, and a multi-temperature refrigerated trailer.

Curtainsiders and reefers for the UK and Irish markets are manufactured at Schmitz Cargobulls factory at Harelaw, County Durham and are built using Schmitz Cargobulls patented bolted and galvanized production technique. Essentially, the bolted and galvanized system removes the need for any welding and, therefore, results in consistently high product quality and greater production flexibility. The galvanizing process all steel parts of the chassis are galvanized before the build process takes place ensures that there is no corrosion within the joint when two parts of the trailer are brought together. Schmitz Cargobull offers a 10 year anti-corrosion warranty on the Galvanized chassis as standard.

The show also provides an opportunity to view Schmitz Cargobulls new design of trailer axle which is proving so popular with trailer operators across mainland Europe and throughout the UK. The ROTOS running gear with

Schmitz Cargobull axle features components supplied by some of the leading names in the industry, including Brembo, who supply the discs, FAG , Knorr Bremse, Weweler and AL-KO and incorporates a unique disc configuration that allows extra cooling and less heat transfer to the bearing. As a result of these and other design features, the Schmitz Cargobull axle reduces the overall lifetime cost of the trailer significantly.

The full range of value added services offered by Schmitz Cargobull, including Trailer Telematics, Cargobull Finance, used trailers and after-sales service and parts, will also be highlighted.

Visitors to the companys stand will also be able to enjoy Schmitz Cargobulls legendary hospitality as the company celebrates its ongoing UK and Europe-wide sales success. In the first nine months of the 2007/2008 financial year, UK sales of Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated trailers were up 40 per cent on the whole of the previous financial year. At the same time, the company has almost doubled sales of curtainsiders to the UK market against 2006/2007s figures.

One of the key drivers of the companys success has been the significant investment made by the Schmitz Cargobull Group in its UK manufacturing facility at Harelaw, County Durham.

Production techniques and processes at the Harelaw plant have been significantly overhauled and, as a result, refrigerated trailer manufacturing capacity has increased by in excess of 50 per cent, while curtainsider and dry freight box van output at the site has grown by some 20 per cent.

The extra capacity enables Schmitz Cargobull to offer its clients what are understood to be the shortest new trailer delivery lead times of any UK trailer manufacturer.

Furthermore, the fact that Schmitz Cargobull produces its own range of axles also means that the companys clients have the reassurance of knowing that the supply of their newly ordered trailers will not be held up by the axle shortage that continues to affect many trailer builders.

With the value added services that we offer, such as Finance, Parts and Service, Telematics and, of course, our Cargobull Trailer Stores, Schmitz Cargobull is recognized as More than Just a Trailer Manufacturer, says Andrew Morley, Schmitz Cargobull (UK) Ltds sales and marketing director.

Andrew Morley continues: In addition to the developments at our UK factory we have expanded our UK sales force significantly this year. Many of our new recruits are experienced trailer or materials handling equipment sales professionals who have joined us from our competitors and I think this says a lot about the way the Schmitz Cargobull, its products and its people are perceived within the UK trailer community.

The Commercial Vehicle Show is a great opportunity to highlight the products and services that help to make the Schmitz Cargobull Group the biggest manufacturer and supplier of semi-trailers in Europe.
