Panther Warehousing helps Mattress Online scoop top accolade for second year running

Panther Warehousing has helped deliver an impressive win for one of its loyal customers which scooped a top accolade at the recent National Bed Federation Awards for the second year running.

Mattress Online won the title of Bed Retailer of the Year (over five million beds turnover) at the prestigious awards, an event held every year to shine a light on bed champions across the country who are considered 'best in class'.

The business was chosen from a bumper crop of entries after impressing a panel of judges with its top and bottom line performance – with average order values rising over the last 12 months.

Judges also recognised the high customer feedback for the bed retailer, despite operating in the value segment market.

Steve Adams, Managing Director of Mattress Online, said he was thrilled to be honoured at the awards for a second year – with the business scooping Etailer of the Year at the 2015 gala.

And he credited the Northampton-based premium delivery firm – as well as the public's changing attitude towards health and wellness – with playing an integral part in this year's impressive win.

"We are absolutely delighted to once again receive a prestigious accolade from the National Bed Federation," Mr Adams said. "It is an incredible honour and we are very proud to be recognised as an industry champion for a second year.

"Our continued partnership with Panther has helped cement our position as a market leader. Their flexibility, reliability and high quality service has played a major role in our ongoing success."

Mattress Online has been working with Panther for almost two years – with the firm providing two-man services for 40 percent of all its deliveries. This year, however, the retailer has introduced a one-man delivery service for standard products, with the option for customers to upgrade to two-man for an additional cost.

"During the past year we have changed our business model considerably," added Mr Adams. "We have done this to meet the growing needs of our customers in a changing and demanding industry.

"Since last year's win we have seen the public's attitude towards health and wellness shift dramatically. More and more people are realising the importance of a good night's sleep to aid their mental and physical wellbeing.

"This change in attitude has altered the dynamic of people buying mattresses. Customers are today more conscious of the importance of buying a good mattress – it's no longer something they do begrudgingly, it's a life choice."

Mr Adams added that customers are also more content to buy their mattress online – which has resulted in a rise in orders over the last year.

"Mattress Online is very transparent about customer reviews," he said. "We believe it is important for our customers to have a comprehensive review of the product they are looking to purchase.

"Being able to see what other people have to say about the mattresses and the level of service we provide gives our customers the confidence they need to purchase our products online."

Established 13 years ago Mattress Online was one of the first entrants into the online marketplace and now arranges 200 deliveries a day.

Its partnership with Panther has helped Mattress Online provide the highest levels of service, offering next day delivery for two man, as well as delivering on the customer's day of choice up to 30 days in advance.

This year Panther has also launched a new Bank Holiday collection service which proved to be very successful for Mattress Online – with a 300 per cent increase in volumes over the August Bank Holiday.

The business has also announced plans to introduce Sunday collections for Monday deliveries, which Steve Adams believe will be a compelling offer for his customers.

Colin McCarthy, Managing Director of Panther Warehousing said: "We are constantly looking at ways to improve and increase our offering to meet the needs of this demanding industry.

"We are delighted that Mattress Online has once again been successful in the National Bed Federation Awards. We are incredibly proud of the partnership we have with them and we look forward to many more successful years of working together."
