Driving forward with vehicle maintenance

Clugston Distribution, part of the Clugston Group of companies and one of the UK's leading independent logistics companies, is making a further investment in the company's vehicle maintenance facility at the seven-acre site in Scunthorpe.

The latest additions to the vehicle workshop include a fully approved specialised DVSA Tachograph repair, maintenance and calibration centre, alongside a DVSA Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) for LGVs.

Over recent years, Clugston Distribution has invested over £100,000 in the vehicle maintenance facility which now provides a full turnkey solution for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers. The service includes repairs to bodywork, pressurised powder tankers, discharge equipment, ADR fuel tankers, long load trailers alongside fleet washing and cleaning, all of which is carried out by fully trained staff.

Clugston Distribution is also a fully authorised Renault Trucks UK franchise service as well as parts dealership and a LOHR transport service and parts agent, repairing a significant number of vehicles for both companies.

Open from 06:00 until 00:00 Monday to Friday and from 06:00 to 12:00 on Saturday, Clugston offers a flexible service with a full call out system in operation outside these hours.

There is also 24-hour security on the site, vehicle and trailer collection and delivery services available within a 20-mile radius, alongside five courtesy vehicles.

In order to manage greater demand, there are plans in place for further developments that include expanding and refurbishing the site's large 12 bay workshop and adding an ADR testing facility for inspecting vehicles transporting dangerous goods.

Nigel Graham, fleet service manager for Clugston Distribution, said, "The vehicle maintenance facility at our Scunthorpe distribution headquarters has been developed to provide a full packaged service for any business looking for commercial vehicle repairs.

"We have a comprehensive stock of vehicle, trailer and tanker spares on site, providing the capabilities to take on most maintenance projects. The latest investment in Tachograph service and repairs allows us to offer a total package for all services that are required by an LGV operator."

David Heath, distribution director for Clugston Distribution, said, "We have seen significant demand for our vehicle maintenance services over recent years, with the workshop becoming a key part of our ever-expanding distribution offering."
